Cotrim 50

Cotrim 50 is a water-soluble powder formulated with Trimethoprim and Sulphadiazine Sodium, a combination that provides effective treatment for complex respiratory infections in poultry and non-ruminant animals. This powerful combination is specifically designed to target infections caused by Haemophilus, E. coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, and Mycoplasma species. Cotrim 50 is also indicated for infections of unknown origin and those involving multiple pathogens.

Each gram contains:

  • Trimethoprim – 80.000 mg

  • Sulphadiazine Sodium – 420.00 mg

Cotrim 50 is indicated for:

  • Complicated CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease) infections due to:

    • Haemophilus

    • E. coli

    • Salmonella

    • Pasteurella

    • Mycoplasma species

  • Infections of unknown origin

  • Multiple infections in poultry and non-ruminant animals

Cotrim 50 combines two active ingredients—Trimethoprim and Sulphadiazine Sodium—to provide a synergistic antibacterial effect. Trimethoprim inhibits bacterial folic acid synthesis, while Sulphadiazine Sodium interferes with a different step in the folic acid pathway, effectively stopping bacterial growth and replication. This combination targets a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making Cotrim 50 highly effective for treating complex and mixed infections, particularly in poultry and non-ruminant species.

Poultry:

  • 30-50 mg per kg body weight, equivalent to 20-33 gm of Cotrim 50 per 100 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days

  • Treatment: 1 gm per 4 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days

  • Prevention: 1 gm per 5 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days

Non-ruminant animals:

  • 1 gm per 16.5-33 kg body weight (15-30 mg/kg) for 3 days, mixed with water or milk replacer
